Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, we want to transform Bangladesh at that level, so that our future generation can cope with the fourth industrial revolution. Children’s talent development is very important in doing that. Children's Film Festival is playing a unique role in that regard.

He expressed his thought while inaugurating the 16th International Children's Film Festival organized by Children's Film Society Bangladesh at Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha in the capital on Thursday afternoon. Society's founder filmmaker Morshedul Islam and president Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal took part in the inauguration with the minister through singing the national anthem and hoisting the national flag.

The Broadcasting Minister said, 'Our children are very talented. If we can develop their talent, they will play a big role in building the country and society, building a developed human race and establishing global peace. In this regard, the Children's Film Festival plays a very important role because here the children themselves make small films, today the presenters were also children. I thank the organizers for organizing the festival for consecutive 16 years.

Hasan Mahmud said, 'Now almost all the people of all ages are focused on smartphones. It has many good sides as well as many bad sides. Addiction to anything is bad. Children should be taken out of that addiction.'

101 films from 39 countries are being screened at the Chitrashala Auditorium of Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka and the Alliance Francaise Gallery in this three-day festival with the slogan 'Dreams of Future in Frames'.

'Government has no plans to send anyone to jail'

He said, 'Dr. Muhammad Yunus received the Nobel Peace Prize; he is a senior citizen. I would like to say with respect and reverence to him - no one is above the law after receiving the Nobel Prize. Cases have been filed against various Nobel Laureates in different countries of the world, even they have gone to jail.'

The Joint General Secretary of Awami League said, 'Law will run at its own pace here. The government has no plans to send anyone to jail. The government only follows what the law and courts decide.'
